I always wondered why the chinese society loved the Dragon. I found out that the Dragon is seen as a symbol for greatness, goodness, blessings, power, and exellence. It is said that Dragons bring ultimate abundance, prosperity and good fortune. Dragons are worshipped, for it is said they control the rain, rivers, lakes, and seas. Every 12 years when the year of the Dragon rolls around it is said that the children born during that year enjoy health, wealth, and long life. Rulers believed that if they did not listen to what the Dragons had to say bad luck would follow them. It is said that Chinese Dragons are vain, even though they are wise. They are insulted when a ruler doesn't follow their advice, or when people do not honor their importance. Basically, to get revenge on the ruler, dragons either stop making rain and cause water shortages, or they breathe black clouds that bring storms and floods. Small dragons do minor mischief, such as making roofs leak, or causing rice to be sticky. There are many different types of dragons. Some dragons are the wood, fire, earth, metal, and water dragons.
WOOD DRAGON: The Wood Dragon is creative, imaginative, and inquisitive. He is both a thinker and a doer. This dragon tries not to offend anyone. He will even compromise if it has advantages. Although he is not as self-centered as other Dragons, he is still outspoken and fearless when challenged.
FIRE DRAGON: The Fire Dragon is the most competitive Dragon. He tends to push too hard and expects a lot from everyone. His criticisms are objective and he has the ability to arouse massive popular support. His will to succeed past standards gives him a short temper.
EARTH DRAGON: The Earth Dragon is a quieter, more reflective Dragon. He will be appreciative of other's opinions even if he fails to agree with them. He is more understanding and tends not to dictate when leading. He doesn't have a temper, but demands respect. He knows the value of cooperation and is more loyal than the other Dragons.
METAL DRAGON: The Metal Dragon is the most strong-willed Dragon. He is inflexible, unbending and combative. He gives little regard to the feelings of others. This Dragon is in a hurry to get in charge, even if that means destroying relationships. He is willing to do things alone when he cannot gain support. He succeeds because he refuses to accept failure.
WATER DRAGON: The Water Dragon is less selfish and opinionated than the other Dragons. He is more inhibited and less power-hungry. He can accept defeat. He has a tendency to be over-optimistic.

Jun De, Thanks for your post. I was born in 1976, do you know which dragon I am?
Do you have citation for your blog? I'd like to look up more information. This would be a fun start to a project.
